The IWLA’s latest event, a Panel Discussing the current events in Afghanistan brought together an esteemed panel of speakers with a wealth of experience to bring to the conversation,

Mary Robinson, currently Adjunct Professor Climate Justice, Trinity College Dublin, Chair of the Elders, previously UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, first  female President of Ireland.

Her Excellency, Mari Skare, Ambassador of Norway in Ireland, most recently Ambassador of Norway in Kabul, formerly NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security and Chef de Cabinet at the United Nations.

Mary Ellen McGroarty, holds an LLM from NUIG, joined us direct from Kabul as Country Director forAfghanistan with the Word Food Programme.

Fereshta Abbasi, LLM, currently Research Fellow with Global Family Care Network. Experienced Lawyer and Human Rights Advocate with a demonstrated history of working in a conflict zone- Afghanistan to London.

We were also joined by a representative of MSF to hear about the work of the organisation in Afghanistan.
